
DEFINITIONS
All entries shall conform to the stricter of these definitions for acceptances to be validated by all the international organizations granting recognition or patronage.
OPEN COLOR (Only Color digital)
IAAP Definition of Color
A Color image is defined by the presence of more than a single color or hue. If an image is treated with two or more colors in any manner or any amount (spot coloring, duotone, etc), it is a color image.
All genres of photography are accepted in this section, with emphasis on color.
OPEN MONOCHROME (Only Monochrome digital)
Black and white photography is an image that displays a range of shades from black to white, encompassing various tones of gray. Such an image focuses on the nuances of light, shadow, and contrast without incorporating any colors. If the entire image is toned in a single hue, it remains within the black and white category. However, if it is modified by partial toning or the addition of any color, it becomes a color work and no longer qualifies as a black and white photograph.
FEMALE PORTRAIT (Color and Monochrome)
This section accepts photographs where the main subject is a woman or women aged 18 years or older. It is recommended that the subject occupies at least two-thirds of the frame. The presence of a person of another gender is allowed, provided that the woman/women remain the main subject.
Accepted styles include studio portraits, genre portraits, staged portraits, images with national character, as well as documentary and street portraits revealing the individuality and character of women.
MALE PORTRAIT (Color
and Monochrome)
This section accepts photographs where the main subject is a man or men aged 18 years or older. It is recommended that the subject occupies at least two-thirds of the frame. The presence of a person of another gender is allowed, provided that the man/men remain the main subject.
Accepted styles include studio portraits, genre portraits, staged portraits, images with national character, as well as documentary and street portraits revealing the individuality and character of men.
CHILDREN (Color and Monochrome)
This section accepts photographs where the main subject is a child or children under 16 years of age. Accepted styles include staged and documentary photographs reflecting the emotional spontaneity of children, as well as artistic expression and storytelling within the image.
FINE ART (Color
and Monochrome)
A Fine Art image is an artistic creation that expresses the photographer’s emotions, aesthetic vision, concept, feelings, or message, going beyond what is literally in front of the camera.
Conceptual photography, fashion photography, and still life are all accepted in this section. Collage and montage are permitted only when created exclusively from photographs made by the author.
